For years, I kept coming back to the same question: couldn’t this just be easier?

My health story began when I was about two weeks old. I was diagnosed with osteomyelitis, a bone infection, and spent around a month in the children’s hospital. My mum remembers the high temperatures, the antibiotics through a drip, and my veins collapsing so easily that they eventually put a line in the side of my head. They shaved a patch of hair and called it my “10 West hairdo”, after the ward I was in.

There were conflicting explanations about how the infection began. We may never know for certain. What my mum remembers clearly is how sick I was and how frightening that month was for her and my dad.

In 2017, I started a spiritual journey that took me down many pathways in search of better health. Cleansing and detox became part of that exploration. Along the way, I began looking more closely at what was actually in our food and what eating “clean” meant to me.

I was reading labels, researching ingredients, looking into how they were made and trying to understand what effects they might have on the body. I started cutting a lot out of my life. The whole time, I kept wishing it didn’t take so much work just to make an everyday choice.

Then, in 2026, my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer.

That was when the idea for Label And Batch came to me. As she went through chemotherapy and explored other approaches to her care, I wanted to make it easier to find the everyday products we felt comfortable using.

I didn’t want to read every label. I didn’t want to email every company for test results. I wanted to be there for her, without having to start from scratch every time we needed something.

So I thought: why not put it all in one place?

A collection of products I would want to use myself. Brands whose stories I love, whose missions I believe in, and whose choices show a commitment to people’s health in a saturated market. I wanted to find the people putting better choices ahead of a quick profit—and make it easier for others to find them too.

But loving a brand’s story is only part of it. I also want to understand what is in the product and what evidence sits behind its claims. That is why Label And Batch looks at ingredients and testing separately, and makes it clear when something still needs verification.

Today, Label And Batch is working towards becoming the label I wish products had: one place to understand what I’m buying, see what supports the claims, and know where questions remain.

It began with wanting to make things easier for my wife. My hope is that it can make things easier for you, too.
